Terminology for Teachers of Dutch Abroad

Terminology for Teachers of Dutch Abroad(Update 17/8: There are still a few places left)
On Monday 27 August, the opening day of the 18th Colloquium Neerlandicum in Antwerp, NL-Term and the Centre for Dutch terminology will be organising a precolloquium on professional communication (terminology) in Dutch language teaching abroad: "Terminology: a key to other worlds?'

The goal of this afternoon is to provide insights into what terminology is and especially to answer the question whether and how professional communication in Dutch can have a role and a place in the work of teachers of Dutch abroad together with the participants and the speakers.

The program consists of 8 sessions of 15 minutes. In these sessions the speakers highlight the relationship between terminology and a number of other related areas, such as knowledge (Willy Martin), teaching Dutch as a foreign language (Els Ruijsendaal), translation (Rita Temmerman), business English (Philippe Hiligsmann), general language (Cornelia Wermuth) and neologisms (Jan Convents).

In 2 additional sessions the Centre for Dutch terminology (Hennie van der Vliet) and NL-Term (Women Kruyt) are presented.

The final programme and practical information can be found on the website below.

The Centre for Dutch terminology (NedTerm) is a single point of contact for all aspects involving terminology for the whole Dutch-language area. The Centre was founded in 2007 by the Dutch Language Union and it is staffed by the Free University of Amsterdam (Attila Görög and Hennie van der Vliet) and CrossLang (Nathalie De Sutter, Rian van der Borgt and Alexandre Pisano) in Ghent.
NL-Term is the Dutch-Flemish professional association for Dutch terminology.
