Germany is for the Dutch businesses with distance the main export market. In 2011 the exports reached toward Germany according to the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) eur 90 billion, more than to the UK and the United States together and almost 20 times as much as to China.
But only one in three companies must assess the German language of the private employees as sufficient to meet the expectations of German business partners to comply. This is evident from a survey of the German-dutch Jurisdiction (DNHK) Fenedex and exporters' organization. The DNHK estimates that the Dutch businesses by the inadequate knowledge of the German language deprived billions of euros.
